New Season, New Division, New Challenges!

The First Team head into the 2026 season still buzzing after clinching the NWCL Championship title on the very last day—proof, if ever it was needed, that Astley Bridge know how to keep things interesting. It was a season full of nerve, determination, and just enough drama to keep supporters on the edge of their seats.

This year, the focus is simple: build on that success and enjoy a steadier ride. With hard-earned promotion secured, the aim is to settle into life at the higher level, play positive cricket, and ideally keep any relegation calculators firmly tucked away until at least August.

The Second Team remain in NWCL Conference 2 after finishing in fourth place, ending the campaign 33 points shy of promotion.

For 2026, there’s no hiding the ambition, promotion is firmly in the sights once more. With a squad hungry to push on, the Second Team will be looking to turn near-misses into celebrations and make this a year to remember.

The Third Team enjoyed a hugely positive first season in the West Lancashire Cricket League, finishing third place and just four points shy of promotion. Competing in a brand-new league after making the move from the GMCL, the side adapted superbly with plenty of new faces and several junior players stepping up into senior cricket. The season can confidently be labelled a success.

Looking ahead to 2026, the focus looks to be clear, promotion is the target, while staying true to what the Third Team is all about: developing young players, supported by a core of experienced senior heads who continue to pass on their knowledge (and the odd bit of bad advice).

We were proud to host the Greater Manchester Falcons, the visually impaired team who made Astley Bridge CC their home for the season. In their first full year as a team, the Falcons enjoyed a remarkable campaign, winning the league and almost everything else on offer, with just one cup final narrowly slipping away.

We’re delighted to share that from the 2026 season, the team will hopefully be rebranding as the Astley Bridge Falcons, proudly carrying our name as they travel the country competing against other visually impaired teams. A fantastic achievement and a brilliant reflection of what cricket at Astley Bridge is all about.
