PITCH2PITCH FUNDRAISING WALK

Fundraising Walk for Inclusion, Opportunity & Inclusion

On 3 April 2026, our junior cricketers, the Astley Bridge Bears, and our visually impaired team, the Greater Manchester Falcons, will walk 18 miles from Lancashire County Cricket Club at Old Trafford to our home ground at Astley Bridge Cricket Club.

Why 18 miles?

We’re aiming to raise £18,000, £1,000 for every mile walked, to build a future where cricket is inclusive, empowering, and accessible to all.

One Club, One Walk, One Vision

Astley Bridge Cricket Club is a community-run, non-profit club with over 100 years of history, supporting local children, families, and communities. We operate six junior and four senior teams, including one of the country’s first visually impaired teams, integrated into a mainstream club. Each week, we support over 111 junior and 45 senior players through inclusive programs that foster confidence and teamwork. Located in a deprived area, the club often provides the only safe space for sport, friendship, and self belief, offering strong role models and a welcoming environment. Beyond cricket, it is a vibrant community hub that supports various groups and hosts events, ensuring broad local engagement. Sponsorship is crucial to our impact: it aligns brands with inclusion, wellbeing, and community and provides visibility, loyalty, and recognition within a proud, growing community.

A Game for Everyone – The Story of the Greater Manchester Falcons

The Greater Manchester Falcons are among the UK’s first visually impaired cricket teams, fully integrated into a mainstream club. They were established in response to requests from local visually impaired community members for accessible play. The team’s aims are to stay active, build confidence, form friendships, and develop through cricket. A significant challenge they face is transportation: most players cannot drive, and public transit is often inaccessible, making attendance at matches costly and stressful. Some players miss opportunities due to cost constraints, and their development is limited by mobility constraints. Their dream is to have a club minibus for safe, affordable travel, and this fundraiser is a step towards that goal, helping to cover transport costs, foster team bonds, and remove barriers to participation.

Why is your Support Important?

Your donation funds coaching for junior and disabled players, equipment, accessibility, and travel costs for the Greater Manchester Falcons, and helps build an inclusive cricket community. It’s about confidence, connection, and community.

Our Ambition

We aim to be among the most inclusive cricket clubs in the UK. "Pitch to Pitch" symbolises our journey from elite pitches to grassroots grounds, promoting equity. Each mile represents a young person choosing sport, welcoming disabled players, building community, and creating opportunities for everyone.

How Can You Help?

Support Pitch to Pitch with a donation—every pound, share, and step makes a difference. Together, we can show the strength of community support for inclusion and opportunity. Thank you for believing in our players, teams, and future.

Your donations are vital to our continued community impact.
