We are delighted to announce the signing of Syd De Silva for the 2025 season.
Syd makes a return to the club after a few years away after a previous stint at the club.
Syd will also come in as first team captain to take over from
Matt Hargraves, who leaves us to head to Australia for a few years.
We are excited to bring Syd on board who will be looking to take the club back to where we want to be in the NWCL Premiership.

WHAT A WEEKEND! 😍 BEER FESTIVAL 2024
It's the evening after our ABCC Beer Festival and we are all feeling a little bittersweet that it is now over for this year! But what a weekend it was!
Our Beer Festival saw some of the best Ales, Beers and Ciders from around the country. Cugini Pizza kept us well fed on Friday night, Saturday afternoon our 1XI Team played Little Lever Cricket Club 🏏 and Jersey Coasters blew the roof off of our club on Saturday evening with their amazing performance 🥰.
We didn't let the weather get us down on Sunday and we all got together in the afternoon to reminisce on the weekends celebrations.
We would like to say a massive thank you to our Sponsors, the ABCC Players, the ABCC Members and the ABCC Committee, as it is with you that we are able to host such an amazing event!
We would also like to thank our ABCC Team for keeping the event running and the food and drinks flowing, the ABCC Bakers for producing such amazing cakes and bakes for the Beer Festival, and the Volunteers for donating your time to help us for the weekend.
We all hope that you enjoyed celebrating Astley Bridge Cricket Club Beer Festival. It is certainly one for the memory box! 🥰

Prior to our first team match vs Salesbury CC, we observed a minutes silence as a mark of respect to Suresh Patel, a valued member of ABCC as a coach and also as a Bolton League umpire.

What a knock for Ismael Patel, a crucial knock of 107 off 90 balls to set 249 for us to defend.
His maiden ton for our first team, an unbelievable knock! Also taking 4-45.
Also, Ulli Bronkhorst scoring 83 whilst Irfan Puda took6-56 to give us a crucial victory.

Huge congratulations to our Under 18s winning the Jake Tatlock trophy against Atherton CC yesterday.
Unfortunately due to the weather we had to conduct a bowl out which we won!

THE PASSING OF SURESH PATEL.
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Suresh Patel today.
Suresh was a member of Astley Bridge CC for many years. Alongside being a Bolton League Umpire, Suresh helped coach
of our juniors at the youngest ages on Friday nights, keeping practice fun and enjoyable for all with his enthusiastic nature.
His infectious laugh and warming personality made everyone feel welcome and he was one of the nicest men you could meet. Suresh was a true gentleman and had wonderful charisma.
Suresh will be sadly missed by all at ABCC and beyond. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time.
Rest in Peace Suresh.

Our Annual Beer festival takes place over the weekend of 13th-15th September.
Serving up acclaimed real ales from around the UK, international lagers, real ciders & cocktails. We have something for everyone!
Great food will be available from Cugini Pizza along with live
entertainment from The Jersey Coasters - Vocal Artists who will be taking to the stage on Saturday evening.
Live Cricket will also be taking place outside on Saturday as ABCC 1XI host Little Lever Cricket Club in our penultimate league fixture and then on Sunday, ABCC 3XI entertain Elton All Saints Cricket Club.
Entrance fee £5 - Includes a pint glass and programme.
Friday 13th September: 6:00pm - 11:00pm
Saturday 14th September: 2:00pm - 11:00pm
Sunday 15th September 12:00pm - 4:00pm

WOW, WHAT A WIN!
Yesterday, we were 64-7 with 20 overs left, needing another 145 to win and severely on the back foot.
However, a 137 run, 8th wicket stand between club Legend Rick Northrop and Haaris Akhtar put us in place for victory! Simply outstanding performance from the pair to bring us the 10 points! One of the great partnerships on Sharples park, that’s for certain!

What a weekend for our senior teams taking home 4 victories out of 4.
Some great performances, Ulli with 62* on Saturday & 36 in
the T20 on Friday, Krish taking 6 wickets 6-25 across the weekend.
Skipper Aidy cooper scoring 57 & Ram taking another 5 fer with 5-2 off his 4.3 overs.
Sunday, the 3rds, Zuhair with 58 then some of our youngsters withHarry Iddon with 3-17 & Usayd Khan with 3-20 successfully defending 125

We are looking for an outgoing, friendly and enthusiastic Front of House member of staff to join our team.
With our cricket season arriving soon and our events diary filling up quickly, we are looking for someone who can be flexible with their hours, and be a real team player. May suit someone who is looking for some extra weekend hours, with an odd shift midweek, or who is looking for a small part time role. Extra hours will be available during busy seasons.
18+ and experience preferred.

Thanks to our kit supplier & sponsor for the 2024 season, PLS Custom Kit, we are happy to unveil our T20 & Training kit for next season. Moving away from the iterations of BRIGHT yellow kit we have worn for 5 years from Nike, we welcome a change with Gray-Nicolls but still keeping within the club colours and brand, Blue & Yellow. Here's to hoping to be a promising season for our senior teams.

Alex joins us from South Africa where he plays first class cricket for Mpumalanga Cricket Union.

THE PASSING OF FORMER CLUB PRESIDENT, GRAHAM MARTIN.
We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former club President Graham Martin.
Graham was a true unsung hero of the club, helping keep the club going through the toughest of times. He could turn his band to anything, he helped with maintenance at the club and as well as much more that many people didn’t see.
At times he literally helped keep the roof up over the head of us!
A few years ago Graham moved up to Scotland to be closer to family.
Graham will be deeply missed by lots of people especially us at Astley Bridge CC. Thanks to our Chairman, Dave for saying a few words and leading a round of applause before our 2nd team match yesterday.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Graham’s family at this time. Rest In Peace Graham.

THE END OF JUNIOR SEAON 2023
Last night marked the end of our junior season with our last outdoor training!
We had some fun games to top off a thoroughly successful year with our 13s finishing as champions
along with somegreat cup runs but unfortunately much of the season ruined by terrible British summer weather!
So much improvement and development has occurred.
Much thanks to all the coaches and volunteers helping throughout the season it couldn’t have been done without you!

Congratulations to East Lancs Eagles who were victorious in our under 11s festival (sponsored by Alimentary solutions & Kumar tutoring) with Bradshaw Cricket Club as runners up!
What a great day once again, so much cricket played, so much fun had!
We had to contest with the weather but we managed to have a full tournament in the end.

We are delighted to announce the signing of South African, Ulli Bronkhorst as our Overseas Amateur for 2023.
Ulli is an 18-year-old batting all-rounder who bowls seam up.

GUESS WHO'S BACK, BACK AGAIN!
We are delighted to announce we have re-signed Lesiba Ngoepe as our professional for 2023.
Lesiba’s stint was cut short in 2022 due to being called back to South Africa. In 19 games he scored 663 runs @ 41.44 and bagging an impressive 44 wickets @ 12.30 including a career best 9-24.
We look forward to having him back at Sharples Park in 2023!
