On 22nd August at Astley Bridge Cricket Club, Harry (aka Dirty Harry) is completing an immense challenge of running 500 cricket runs (that’s just shy of 5 miles!!) and IN FULL BATTING GEAR!!!

This is all his own idea in order to raise money for ABCC Juniors 🏏

North West Cricket League T20 Finals Day 2025

Spread over 2 Sundays, we hosted the T20 Finals day.

Congratulations to Read Cricket Club on their victory in the final. Great effort from ourselves, Padiham Cricket Club & Little Lever Cricket Club on getting to finals day.

Huge thanks to Cugini Pizza, Killa Carbs, Takatakamam Souvlaki, Patrão Indian Street Food and the volunteers who served food across both days.

What a Night!

We’re through to T20 Finals Day!

Clinical performance last night defeating Tonge in the T20 quarter final. Some notable performances from Dhanu with 52 & Ulli 37* to give us 152 to defend.

After Tonge got off to a good start with the bat, we took 4 wickets in 2 overs to give us back control. Ulli taking 4-19 & Joe taking 3-17 to take us to the finals day!

Visually Impaired Cricket Training Session

Today we had our first ever visually impaired (blind) team training at Sharples Park.

They had a fantastic session in which they did a full warm up and fielding drills to enhance their batting and bowling skills.

The session finished off with a short game of cricket where they showed off their exceptional talent!

It was truly inspirational to watch and to see how the game of cricket truly is for everyone.

The Passing of former ABCC Professional, Cec Wright.

We heard the very sad news earlier that former ABCC professional Cec Wright has passed away following a long illness, aged 92.

He played into his 80's and he was a great cricketer, but an even better man.

To say he will be missed is an understatement. The word Legend is overused, but it truly applied to Cec, and he will be missed, not just by Astley Bridge supporters, but by the whole cricket community in Bolton and beyond.

Suresh's 70th!

Can we just say a massive thank you to all who made it down today.

As a community we celebrated the amazing Suresh Patel and what would have been his 70th Birthday.

The day provided an amazing spirit and money was also raised in honour of Suresh for the wonderful Christie Hospital.

Overseas Re-Signed

We are so ecstatic to announce that we have re-signed Ulli for a 3rd consecutive year in the 2025 campaign.

Ulli made a strong finish to last season so we felt he was crucial to get back in our attempt to bounce back up.

Pro Signing

We are delighted to announce the signing of Sri Lankan Professional Dhanushka Dharmasiri as the club professional for the 2025 season.

Dhanushka previously played for Edenfield CC in the GMCL in 2024.

Dhanushka is a left hand bat, who bowls spin and is also a wicketkeeper.

We can’t wait to get started in 2025 already as we aim to head back to the NWCL premier division.

Syd makes a return to the club after a few years away after a previous stint at the club.

Syd will also come in as First Team Captain to take over from Matt Hargraves, who leaves us to head to Australia for a few years.

BEER FESTIVAL 2024

It's the evening after our ABCC Beer Festival and we are all feeling a little bittersweet that it is now over for this year! But what a weekend it was!

Our Beer Festival saw some of the best Ales, Beers and Ciders from around the country. Cugini Pizza kept us well fed on Friday night, Saturday afternoon our 1XI Team played Little Lever Cricket Club 🏏 and Jersey Coasters blew the roof off of our club on Saturday evening with their amazing performance 🥰.

The Passing of Suresh Patel

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Suresh Patel today. Suresh was a member of Astley Bridge CC for many years. Alongside being a Bolton League Umpire, Suresh helped coach our juniors at the youngest ages on Friday nights, keeping practice fun and enjoyable for all with his enthusiastic nature. His infectious laugh and warming personality made everyone feel welcome and he was one of the nicest men you could meet.

Suresh was a true gentleman and had wonderful charisma. Suresh will be sadly missed by all at ABCC and beyond. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time. Rest in Peace Suresh.

Our Annual Beer festival takes place over the weekend of 13th-15th September.

Serving up acclaimed real ales from around the UK, international lagers, real ciders & cocktails. We have something for everyone!

Great food will be available from Cugini Pizza along with live

entertainment from The Jersey Coasters - Vocal Artists who will be taking to the stage on Saturday evening.

Live Cricket will also be taking place outside on Saturday as ABCC 1XI host Little Lever Cricket Club in our penultimate league fixture and then on Sunday, ABCC 3XI entertain Elton All Saints Cricket Club.

Entrance fee £5 - Includes a pint glass and programme.

Wow, What a Win!

Yesterday, we were 64-7 with 20 overs left, needing another 145 to win and severely on the back foot.

However, a 137 run, 8th wicket stand between club Legend Rick Northrop and Haaris Akhtar put us in place for victory! Simply outstanding performance from the pair to bring us the 10 points! One of the great partnerships on Sharples park, that’s for certain!

the T20 on Friday, Krish taking 6 wickets 6-25 across the weekend.

The Passing of Graham Martin.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former club President Graham Martin.

Graham was a true unsung hero of the club, helping keep the club going through the toughest of times. He could turn his band to anything, he helped with maintenance at the club and as well as much more that many people didn’t see.

At times he literally helped keep the roof up over the head of us!

A few years ago Graham moved up to Scotland to be closer to family.

Graham will be deeply missed by lots of people especially us at Astley Bridge CC. Thanks to our Chairman, Dave for saying a few words and leading a round of applause before our 2nd team match yesterday.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Graham’s family at this time. Rest In Peace Graham.

The End of Junior Season 2023

Last night marked the end of our junior season with our last outdoor training!

We had some fun games to top off a thoroughly successful year with our 13s finishing as champions 

along with somegreat cup runs but unfortunately much of the season ruined by terrible British summer weather!

So much improvement and development has occurred.

Today has seen the completion of our clubhouse refurbishment.
